Applying Epigenetics

  • The methylation cycle is arguably one of the most clinically important biochemical pathways in the entire body. Yet, nearly 50% of the world’s population harbors genetic defects, that impair various aspects of methylation and its associated pathways. The emergence of nutrigenomics and the application of this knowledge has seemingly complicated the practice of individualized nutrition. Dr. Murphy aims to illuminate not only how to interpret and apply SNP information to our patients but use the information in real-time during the office visit.

    Objectives:
    • Participants will be able to order and correctly interpret genomic testing
    • Participants will understand the implications and pressures that certain clinically relevant SNPs may convey
    • Participants will receive an overview of current understanding of optimal use of supplementation (dosing and forms)
